Accounts Payable Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled through processing payments and verifying and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. Reviews for appropriate documentation and approval. Ensures that discounts are applied.
  • Resolves purchase order, contract, invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Enters and uploads invoices into the accounting system; performs check runs.
  • Distributes checks and payments as required.
  • Logs daily deposits and compares system entries to paper.
  • Maintain accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and files thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policies.
  • Assures the confidentiality of all records and information.
  • Perform all other job-related duties on an as-needed basis.

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED. Two to four years of experience in accounts payable function.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

SKILLS REQUIRED

Knowledge of accounting principles. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). General math skills. Excellent data entry skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines.

WORK EXPECTATIONS

Regularly scheduled 40 hours per week, but overtime and weekend hours could be required at times.
