As a Bartender at El Encanto, A Belmond Hotel, you are an integral part of a bartending team that brings innovation to beverages and guest experiences. In this role, you’ll work with the Bartenders to bring a range of premium spirits, locally sourced ingredients, and unique flavors to craft exceptional and exclusive cocktails. You’ll engage with guests, understand their preferences, and create customized cocktails tailored to their tastes. Requirements

· Highest standard of beverage product and bar sanitation, storage, and handling procedures.

· Beverage quality and portion control standards.

· Fresh ingredients, mixology, and beverage presentation and service standards.

· Follows labor schedule and work assignments.

· Knowledge of all daily events, times, and locations

· Thorough conversational knowledge of hotel history and statistics.

· Requisitions liquors and supplies.

· Stocks bar with supplies: cocktail napkins, stirrers, etc.

· Keep the bar clean and well-organized.

· Arranges bottles and glasses to specification.

· Freshly slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks.

· Takes orders from restaurant and lounge servers.

· Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.

· Specific knowledge of wines by the glass, liquor, and beer selections.

· Serve wine, liquor, and bottled beer.

· Strict adherence to uniform and grooming standards.

· Respond to guest requests

· Participate in shift staff roll call briefing.

· Completes assigned side work, Opening/running/closing.

· Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.

· Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager, and across departments, as appropriate.

· Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy, and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.

· Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.

Education and Required Skills

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

· One-year certificate from technical bartender school (preferred, but not required)

· 1-2 years of Hotel, bar, or related experience preferred

· Demonstrated knowledge of beverage

· Clear, fluent conversational English.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and requisitions. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

· Demonstrated proficiency with guest service and Point of Sale Systems. Cash handling etiquette, registering transactions, bank procedures – balancing, due backs, and auditing

· Primary quality: detailed service ethic.

· Strong interpersonal staff and guest relations.

· Team-minded approach to fellow workers.

· Ability to apply common sense, understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
