Deputy Director of Grants Management

Cary, NC

Hybrid – 3 days onsite

Position Overview

Be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing learning opportunities that equip and empower policymakers to drive equitable reforms. As the Deputy Director of Grants Management, you will manage the organization’s grant portfolio, overseeing all phases from research to reporting and outcome measurement while also will supporting the Finance Department in tracking grant activity and its impact on the organizational budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full grant lifecycle, from inquiry to final reporting, ensuring timely and consistent delivery to funders
  • Maintain systems to track grant deliverables, deadlines, and engagement with staff, while cultivating prospective funders
  • Draft proposals, concept papers, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials
  • Assist the Finance Department in tracking funder updates, correspondence, and outstanding requests
  • Collaborate with teams to monitor grant progress, clarify responsibilities, and ensure accurate reporting of deliverables
  • Prepare budgets for grant applications and reports, and monitor expenditures with relevant departments
  • Support the annual giving campaign, including preparing and distributing acknowledgment letters
  • Assist with the annual audit and tax preparation, including providing confirmation letters and schedules
  • Prepare call note templates for funder interactions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years in nonprofit development or grants departments; or Masters' degree in relevant field such as an MBA
  • Experience writing grant proposals and reports for private foundations preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and experience tracking grant expenditures and restricted revenue
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to organize multiple projects with overlapping timelines
  • Experience working on a team in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proficiency in 501(c)(3) fundraising approaches
  • Familiarity with InDesign and/or Adobe DC is a plus
  • Determined, resourceful, and effective problem-solver under pressure
  • Detail-oriented, with impeccable attention to detail and strong judgment

Compensation

  • Salary: $93,000 - $103,000
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) plan with an employer matching contribution policy
