Job Description

ATS – AL, Inc is hiring. We offer a broad range of IT services; however, this is not your “typical” IT Tech position. Your day can range from reinstalling a PC Operating System to drilling holes and running CAT6 and fiber through entire buildings to installing racks, nodes, terminating patch panels and configuring VLANs. Job Description:

  • Pull, install, terminate and test CAT 6 and fiber optic cabling.
  • Prepare/install cable pathways and supports.
  • Running new cabling in new or existing spaces: CAT5e, CAT6, and 10gig 2.
  • Testing/Troubleshooting network issues. (Connectivity, other Low Voltage Cable associated issues)
  • Connects wires and cables to terminals, and attaches/detaches various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, and poles.
  • Build closets. (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, 66 Blocks, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware)
  • Perform MDF and IDF build outs.

Cable Technician Requirements:

  • Ideally 2-5 years of experience installing structured cable and performing terminations and punch down work.
  • Technicians should have prior experience installing telecommunication frames/support structures. (cabinets, trays, racks, wall mounts, ladder racks, j-hooks, etc)
  • Operate test equipment to include: tones, twisted pair, checkers butt set, and cable scanners.
  • Experience working structured cabling projects with multiple drops.
  • Excellent people skills, communication skills, and self-management skills.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 75 pounds.
  • Technicians should have all basic cabling tools.
