We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Rigger to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of rigging operations, equipment handling, and safety protocols to ensure efficient and secure lifting operations in industrial environments.
📍 Location: Newport News, VA, United States
What You'll Do:
🏗️ Assist with the erection or scaffolding or staging in order to efficiently complete assigned jobs
⚠️ Assist with various aspects of weight testing within the safety guidelines
🔧 Fabricates, installs, and repairs rigging and weight handling gear on ships
⚙️ Attaches plates, pulling gear lift, move, position machinery, equipment parts, heavy loads
🔗 Use Jacks, Pulley Blocks, Chain Falls, Rollers
📍 Selects and attaches gear, braces, cushions according to weight and distribution of load
👥 Signals workers operating cranes or other equipment to move load
📋 Other duties may be assigned as workload dictates
What We're Looking For:
✅ 4+ years of shipyard rigging experience
✅ Must be knowledgeable on weight calculation and center of gravity
✅ Tool Requirements: 12” crescent wrench, Knife, Lineman’s pliers, Combination wrench set, Marlin spikes, Channel lock’s, Tape measure, and Hammer
✅ Excellent safety awareness and attention to detail
✅ Physical ability to work in challenging environments
