Trevor Day School seeks a part-time Theatre Technical Director for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is a 12-month staff position with an estimated commitment of 24 hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling required. We are looking for a dedicated and engaging professional who provides level 1 technical support for productions, performances, events and rentals in Trevor Day School’s Sally A. Rocker Theatre for the Arts. This position will also support other internal and external (rental) events and spaces that require audio-visual support. Ideal candidates should possess a combination of technical skills in theatre technology and operations; a high level of organization, safety, and attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with adults and students within an educational setting; and, a genuine passion for theatre production and education.
The Theatre Technical Director will be responsible for:
Assisting with Space Coordination & External Rentals:
Coordinate usage and setups for events in the Sally A. Rocker Theatre for the Arts and other school event spaces, including but not limited to schoolwide meetings, assemblies, performances, and external rentals.
Operate event spaces during events, including the operation of lighting and sound equipment, providing backstage help or helping with ticketing as needed.
Collaborate with Trevor’s Operations and Technology teams to support rental events and coordinate with external clients, external vendors, and internal staff.
Supervise subcontractors for safety protocols and care of the space and equipment.
Maintenance of Technical Equipment and Systems:
Provide level 1 AV support for equipment.
Maintain theatre shop and provide general care for the theatre space.
Maintain all technical equipment and systems in the Sally A. Rocker Theatre for the Arts and other school event spaces.
Handle carpentry, rigging, hanging flies and drapes for various productions, including the construction of the set for three productions per year.
Support for Performing Arts Program:
Support student-facing initiatives and projects in the Theatre and the school’s makerspaces as directed by the Production Manager.
The strongest candidates will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of professional experience.
Strong foundation in carpentry, sound, and information technology with knowledge of lighting as well as set and costume design.
Proficiency in a variety of audiovisual technology, including but not limited to ETC Ion lighting console and other branded equipment, Yamaha LS-9 sound console, Crestron AV systems, Barco and NEC projectors, and MAC computer systems.
Ability to create a supportive, collaborative environment for students and staff.
Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.

The annual salary range for this part-time position is $30,000 - $45,000, plus a competitive benefits package. When extending an offer for employment, Trevor Day School bases the salary upon several factors that include (but are not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity.
