Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Landscape Foreman at Laurel Hill Gardens, you will lead and manage on-site landscape construction, garden installation, and maintenance crews for high-end

residential and estate properties. You are responsible for executing landscape designs, ensuring craftsmanship, crew productivity, safety compliance, and exceptional service standards across both design-build and estate gardening projects.

Key Responsibilities: Project Execution & Oversight
  • Supervise and work alongside crew members during all phases of landscape installation, hardscaping, softscaping, and estate garden maintenance.
  • Interpret and implement landscape plans, construction drawings, and horticultural specifications.
  • Manage daily project timelines, coordinate tasks, and adapt schedules as needed to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Ensure all work meets quality, aesthetic, and technical standards consistent with high end landscapes and estate-level expectations.
Team Leadership
  • Provide daily direction and motivation to crew members; assign tasks based on skill levels and project requirements.
  • Train crew members on planting techniques, pruning standards, equipment use, safety procedures, and horticultural best practices.
  • Foster a respectful, efficient, and positive team environment.

Client Interaction & Representation
  • Act as the on-site liaison between clients, designers, subcontractors, and office staff.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and communicate updates, changes, or concerns promptly to clients and supervisors.
  • Anticipate client needs, suggest seasonal improvements, and identify enhancements for ongoing estate care.
Equipment, Safety & Compliance
  • Operate and oversee proper use of trucks, machinery, and landscape tools.
  • Enforce job site safety protocols and company standards to protect crew and client property.
  • Maintain accurate time records, material use logs, and site reports.
Estate Gardening & Maintenance
  • Oversee recurring high-touch garden care including deadheading, fine pruning, seasonal planting, soil amendments, and specialty horticultural tasks.
  • Identify pest or disease issues and report or implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Monitor the overall health and presentation of estate landscapes with a designer’s eye for detail.
Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of experience in landscape construction, estate gardening, or high-end property maintenance with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Horticultural knowledge including plant ID, care, and seasonal requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading landscape plans and using tools/equipment such as skid steers, trenchers, and irrigation systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and own transportation. 
  • Landscape certifications preferred but not required.
Physical & Schedule Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and manage physical labor over extended periods.
  • Flexible availability during peak seasons, with occasional weekend or after-hours work.
